Student Intern Program
We welcome students to come and do their clinical hours here from all over. We love hosting students and running the internship program is one of my favorite things to do. We mainly work with Lincoln Memorial University but are open to working with other schools. We have worked with the University of Tennessee at Knoxville as well.
Our internship program offers lots of hands on experiences. We want you to be able to learn and prepare for your new career as much as possible. You will be seeing cases and guided along throughout each treatment, diagnostic, and procedure. We are a mixed animal practice located about one hour south of Nashville. You will have the opportunity to work with animals big and small here and we hope that we help you learn valuable skills that will stick with you throughout your career.
You will get experience watching surgeries on both large and small animals.
We offer housing in the house behind our clinic. It is an old house with lots of southern charm. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is wifi and access to the kitchen and living room areas. We mainly use the house for grooming and storage. The grooming room is its own separate thing, though. Both rooms have TVs. One is a smart TV and one only has basic cable unless you bring a Roku or something similar. Either room is available. We rarely have two students stay at the same time, but if that were to happen we will let you know ahead of time that you would have a housemate. We do not charge you all to use this space during your rotation with us. We want you to have a meaningful stay/experience with us and want to make it as stress free as possible.
If you do not wish to stay in the house behind the clinic, Henry Horton State Park is right down the road and they have a campground and hotel that you would be able to stay at.
Our schedule for our students is 7:30-5:30 Mon-Fri and 7:30-12:00 on Saturdays. We do ask that you be available for large animal emergency calls on the weekend.
