Feline Wellness Care

Cats are masters at hiding illness and age at a much more rapid rate than humans.  It is critical to your cat’s longevity to play a proactive role in your cats health.  No matter your cat’s size, breed or age, all cats will benefit from an annual wellness exam. Senior cats will benefit from more frequent exams.  Having your cat examined by us is the best way to keep your cat as healthy as possible and will assure the highest quality of life for your cat.

The Value of Annual Exams

A regular wellness exam may save you money in the long term as your cat ages by catching diseases early, when treatment is most effective.  Many diseases can be well-maintained, or even cured, if caught early.

At Veterinary Services, our veterinarians recommend annual exams for adult cats and twice yearly exams for senior cats. Kittens will need more frequent exams. During the wellness exam we will review your cat’s medical history, record their weight, check their vital signs, perform a visual dental exam and a thorough physical examination. We will administer any vaccinations that your cat needs, and will discuss with you any questions or concerns you may have about your cat’s health.

Preparing for Your Cat’s Exam

On the day of your cat’s wellness appointment, we ask that you bring a stool sample (less than 12 hours old) and your kitten or cat in a carrier. We make every effort to make your cats visit with us to be as stress-less as possible. Bringing your cat to us in a carrier with a door on the top of the carrier will make it easier for us to examine your cat. We use special stress-free cat handling techniques so that the visit is easier for you and your cat.  Be sure to get your cat used to the cat carrier before bringing your cat to us.

We also recommend that you bring any medical records you may have, such as previous vaccination records, if this is your cat’s first visit with us.
