DENTAL DISEASE

Dental disease is one of the most common diseases we treat in dogs and cats. Both dogs and cats need preventative dental care as part of their health care routine to avoid tooth loss, infection and serious illness resulting from poor dental care. Without dental care, bacteria and plaque buildup on your pet’s teeth, hardening into tartar, causing gingivitis, receding gums and tooth loss. It will progress to periodontitis, which is characterized by pockets of chronic infection, oral pain, and severe infections. The infection under the gum line can also spread to the liver, kidneys and heart.
